This message is part I. to the message Knowing God II. —
God wishes to make much out of man. Much more than anything else.
He has no methods, but people.
(Psa 8:3-5; Acts 14:17, 17:28; 1Cor 13:11-13; Eph 4:13; Heb 2:5,16)
This discussion was held in connection with the message Spiritual Life A-Z.
(November 6. 2016, Sunday)
If you open an encyclopedia you don’t find too many things listed under a word because the purpose of it is to collect things. This message is the same because I just wanted to collect the most important principals of the spiritual life. I think that we could talk about each part for months.
Salvation plan to save mankind – God’s pursuit was to save people. This is the love of God, this is His mercy. He wants everyone to be saved. That is why He Himself provided. He did everything He could do because He wanted to be sure. Well is it possible to add anything to it?
(Isa 5:4; Ez 18:32, 33:11; Jn 6:47; Eph 1:13, 2:8-9; Acts 17:30; 1Tim 2:4; 2Pt 2:4; 1Jn 4:9, 5:13)
The consequence of the fall is shame, guilt and fear. What do these mean? How do they have an influence on man’s life? As a believer you can accomplish and do anything in your life but you cannot quiet down these three things. Only Jesus is able for that and He has already done it. You only need to hear, and hear it well as He speaks because as Christians we can misunderstand His voice.
We are the sheep of God’s pasture. He has chosen us and ordained us for certain things. This is His work not mine and He says: “Rest! Don’t worry about anything!” The other thing is that I can rest in what God has given to me and I can walk in it. The third thing is that God loves the small things. Well then what do these have to do with a lousy guitar case?
(Psa 95:7, 97:13, 100:3; 2Cron 34:1-3,8, John 15:16, Luke 16:10, 2Cor 8:12, Phil 1:6, James 5:7-8)
How is it important that the man of God has areas in his life where he can’t see? Hear when God corrects you! We need quietness after failure because there is power in quietness. There God speaks to your heart. What is He saying?
(Prov 15:5,32, 2Cron 19:1-4, Psa 46:10, 51:12-13, Isa 30:15, Luk 19:10, Mat 16:25)
It is done, the work is finished. This realizes me to grow. But if I don’t hear about it or if I don’t accept it then something else will speak to me.
How do you read the Scriptures? How do you understand it? What forms your understanding about God?
(Jn 12:32, Mat 4:4, Psa 115:5,8)
This discussion was held in connection with the message Jesus The Indivisible on July 24, 2016, Sunday.
Jesus is indivisible, in Him there is unity. In Him there is a joining, a connecting. What do we find in Him? (Jo 1:14, 13:13, 15:15, 20:26-28, Ro 16:26, Gal 3:28, Lk 19:10)
We may err as we think about sin – whether it be ours, or someone else’s. What is the mind of God and what is my responsibility when I sin, or I see that others commit sins, or that someone sins against me? (Job 42:7, Mk 11:25, Mt 5:23-24, Psa 59:17(18)) We may live in…
Is holiness possible at all, considering that God alone is holy? Holiness is not only a possibility for a Christian, but a necessity and an expectation as well. Not a luxury for the believer, but a normal thing to have present in their lives. Why? Because without holiness, the Scripture says noone will see the…
God for us is the inexhaustible, the One defying our understanding and comprehension, yet He knows us from the womb. Does this encourage you? There is no place, time, situation to separate us from Him, but always a new depth to discover, and a new miracle. (Psalm 139, Heb 4:13)
Once we’ve made the decision to walk with God, to get to know God; it is as if the opposite had happened, we meet not God, but the problems. We are proned to say: This is not of the Lord! God, however, is faithful to give us exactly what we need. He would like to…
